Terry Gilliam e Arancia Meccanica

In un'intervista promozionale per il suo ultimo film, Parnassus: l'uomo che voleva ingannare il diavolo, Terry Gilliam ricorda i suoi esordi come artista grafico e ci regala questa chicca d'epoca, che personalmente non avevo mai sentito.

What's also interesting - at that point in my life, I came back from holiday with my wife and found a letter from Stanley Kubrick. It turned out he wanted me to do the opening credits for A Clockwork Orange - but by the time I got back, it was too late. So, that was my career with Kubrick: over before it even began!

Nel 1971 Gilliam impazzava alla TV britannica con i Monty Pyton e il loro Flying Circus, uno show surreale con fulminanti battute di sublime humour inglese.

La predisposizione all'assurdo di Gilliam e i suoi collage di ritagli in stile vittoriano con piedi giganti e poliziotti travestiti avrebbero sicuramente fatto faville sui temi di Arancia Meccanica – pur senza togliere nulla all'ottimo stile cartoon di Philip Castle.
