Jan Harlan ancora sul Napoleon

In attesa delle ultime due puntate della maxi recensione dello Stanley Kubrick's Napoleon, vi segnalo un interessante articolo dell'Independent con alcune dichiarazioni di Jan Harlan, Christiane Kubrick e Alison Castle.

Scopriamo così l'inizio della collaborazione di Harlan con il cognato regista, proprio a causa del film sull'imperatore corso.

"It was very tough to find out [Napoleon] wasn't going ahead. Stanley was extremely unhappy. I'd thought I'd go back to Zurich, where I come from originally, but then my wife and I fell in love with England. She wanted to stay here and Stanley liked me and I liked him. So we all settled here, and threw ourselves into our work."

Poco dopo Harlan descrive Kubrick come lo studente modello in qualsiasi disciplina e quella [xxx] di Alison Castle si vanta di quanto abbia avuto carta bianca sul progetto.

In finale, Harlan confida nuovamente di aver tentato di resuscitare il Napoleon.

"Ridley Scott knows that we have the material and we put it to Ang Lee. What was silly was I had Steven Spielberg and Ang Lee on a table and I tried to say, 'hey, this is something real,' instead of Hulk. But they went and did Hulk, so what can I do?"
